Based on the legendary G Class, this 2019 AMG G63 pushes the performance envelope even further and adds exclusive styling bits inside and out.

Twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 that makes 577 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. A nine-speed automatic gearbox with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters sends all that power to the all-wheel-drive system that prioritises rear traction for better handling and acceleration.

The changes that Mercedes has made from the predecessor are additionally enhanced which wears a distinctly different grille and flared fenders as well as side-exit exhaust pipes and wheels as big as 22 inches. The aesthetic effect is both more aggressive and luxurious. The fanciful features also extend to the interior, where premium materials mix with high-tech gadgetry. This includes the optional dual dashboard displays that each measure 12.3 inches and allow multiple user-chosen configurations. Thanks in part to its all-new design, the G63’s cabin has improved noise and vibration isolation, too. It also means the G-wagon has more interior passenger space compared with the previous generation.

The AMG G63 has drive modes for Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual, most of my time you will want to be in Sport+ for maximum throttle response, the stiffest suspension and the snappiest shifts. It’s an intoxicating experience; the G63 rears up when you mash my foot on the accelerator, the V8 engine and side-exit exhaust roaring and crackling.
