What a special car we have here. The Golf GTI Clubsport Edition 40, only 1,000 made for the UK and we’re privileged to be able to sell this one.

The normal Volkswagen GTI is a brilliant car as it is but Volkswagen’s 40-year anniversary edition is something else… Just look at it. The sharp LED headlights, the red pinstripe along the front grille that leads into the headlights and onto the black gloss painted wing mirrors, the detailed front bumper with active air intakes to cool the brakes and look at that rear end! A lovely gloss black extended spoiler and rear diffuser which produce more high-speed downforce. Another touch that Volkswagen applied to this car was the Clubsport side decals which relate back to the MK1 GTI from all those years ago.

This interior is, in my opinion, the best in any Golf to date. It’s fitted with the super special and gorgeous part-Alcantara heated bucket seats with hexagon texture down the centre as well as some lovely pinstriping to finish them off. More Alcantara pieces are fitted including the multifunctional steering wheel and the gear shifter boot, everything is stitched with red which is another clever GTI related touch. The touchscreen infotainment system is full of everything you could ever need: SatNav, Reversing Camera, Bluetooth Audio and Phone connection, Front and Rear Parking Sensors and all your vehicle status’ and settings.

Now onto the drive. 261hp, 258ft-lb of torque, a front electronically controlled LSD, a top speed of 155mph and a lovely little overboost feature which ups the power to 290hp… Three letters – D S G. The DSG gearbox is absolutely phenomenal. It’s incredibly smooth when upshifting and downshifting, and the speed of every shift is just ridiculously quick! The steering is nice and tight and can also be altered using Volkswagens Drive mode selector. There are 5 modes in this Golf: Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport and Individual. Eco, Comfort and Normal speak for themselves, Sport tightens your throttle response and steering weight. Individual lets you change different aspects too different settings to suit your desired driving style and create a more personal drive.
