Where to start with this car? Every single aspect of this car is meticulously engineered and just inconceivably incredibly. There are so many little features and quirks to talk about but I’m going to do my best at summarising and giving you a clear idea of how amazing this car really is.
Let’s start with the looks. True beauty. The 488 and its predecessor, the 458 are two of the most gorgeous cars ever built. I mean, just look at it. Admiring it brings goosebumps to your skin and makes you feel giddy because its looks are just so exciting! Finished in Rosso Corsa (“Ferrari Red” – the only colour a Ferrari really should be…) which only more enhances the excitability of this car because everyone loves a red Ferrari! The stunning body lines, the 20″ wheels, the LED headlights, the circular tail lights and large dual exhaust pipes. All moulded to absolute perfection.
In terms of quality and attention to detail, the inside is no different from the outside. Again, everything has been meticulously engineered and crafted to be flawless. The Italians are known for their impeccable leather skills and doesn’t it just show! Everything is wrapped in leather and stitched with contrasting stitching and I think you’ll agree that it is a genuine work of art. The 488 also has one of the coolest features we’ve ever seen in a car and that’s the passenger display. It shows all the information that the driver gets in his gauge cluster and you can cycle through different screen including, the speed you’re going, the maximum speed this particular car has travelled, the average speed, the trip odometer, the time you’ve been travelling and also a screen showing various performance level readouts in live time!
Just behind your seat is your 3.9 litre twin-turbocharged V8 that will send you from 0-60 in 3 seconds flat. Just let that sink in. 1,2,3 and you’re at 60mph. The power is addictive and, quite frankly, terrifying – in a good way… Any gear, any rpm, instantaneous, ridiculous power. The 458 had all the power you needed but the 488 is on another level. The gearbox is just phenomenal. It’s so smooth and quick and the noise of every gear change will put a smile on your face. Speaking of noise, everyone will be looking at your car when you drive past because the sound that comes from that engine and that exhaust is just wonderful in every way.
