The 2015 Volkswagen Polo GTI might look like a subtle makeover, but it gets a bigger 1.8-litre turbocharged TSI petrol engine with 189bhp 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 140 mph followed by a  manual six-speed gearbox with 47 mpg in return also which really is impressive for a little hot hatch ! On the GTI the dual exhaust parps it belches when shifting gears with the transmission’s Sport mode engaged, adding some much-needed mongrel to the mix. The Polo GTI gets bespoke bumpers, 17-inch alloys, red radiator grille strips which extend into the LED headlights and the black honeycombe grille we’re familiar with from the brand’s hotter propositions.The Polo gets the Golf GTI’s XDS+ electronic diff, which brakes the inside front wheel to improve cornering. Coupled with stiffer suspension, it means the car grips well around tight country bends when driving at high speeds.

The interior inside the GTI it has a very premium cabin. Its had the exact same interior treatment as its larger brother. That means aggressively bolstered sports seats, and a black leather flat bottom steering wheel which are all held together with contrast red stitching , shift knob and parking brake lever , 6.5-inch touchscreen, , CD player, USB connectivity and the ability to read out text messages. More pragmatic kit includes electric windows, a trip computer, electric mirrors and LED lighting. The seats are fully heated covered in Volkswagen’s legendary “Interlagos” plaid interior pattern, making them the most attractive seats you can get in but also very comfortable. There’s plenty of adjustment in the driver’s seat and steering column, meaning finding a good driving position should be straightforward for most people. The pedals and gearstick are placed exactly in the right position to be comfortable , both are ergonomic delights.
