The “M” division is the pinnacle of BMW’s. They are a car that is impossible not to love. Their looks, features and most importantly, the incredible driving ability.
Firstly, let’s start with the insane looks of this car. It’s finished in the Gorgeous pearl mineral white Holding it to the ground is a set of Unmarked 19″ M Double Spoke Alloy Wheels. Huge air vents on the front bumper and BMW’s iconic kidney grills that give the car a really angry and meaningful look that you wouldn’t want to mess with… The rear arches are beautifully moulded to make room for those massive rear wheels and tyres.
The interior is laced with gadgets, technology and brilliant build quality. You’ll be seated in a lightweight electrically adjustable sports seat with your hands gripped around a leather-wrapped multifunctional steering wheel and looking out over a beefy bonnet bulge. It’s a magical place to be. The cockpit is well suppressed from the outside but BMW know their market and they know that the people who buy their cars are people who love driving which in turn leads to people who love the noise of a straight 6 powering its way up through the rev range. So, how have BMW suppressed the exterior noise but managed to give the driver the lovely sound that the exhaust gives out? They have installed an artificial system that projects the exhaust’s sound through the speaker so you don’t lose out!
BMW’s iDrive system is just fantastic. It’s super smooth, responsive, easy to manoeuvre around and has a boatload of features and technology to make your life easier. It has a media tab with DAB radio and Bluetooth media, so you don’t have to worry about plugging your phone in every time you get into the car, a communication tab, where you can access your phone’s contacts and call people hands free, a Navigation tab, which is for your SatNav and finding the cheapest fuel prices around you, BMW’s Connected Drive, where you can find the weather forecast and news and finally, the My Vehicle tab where there are some really intuitive ideas such as your a tyre pressure monitor, oil level monitor, service requirements and even your service history – all stored in your car’s computer.
BMW’s attention to details is magnificent. There is “M” coloured stitching that joins the piece of leather tightly wrapped around the steering wheel and listen to this, there are M4 logos just below the headrests of the seats that will illuminat so, at night, all you can see if you look through your windscreen, are two small M4 logos shining through and reminding you what a special car you’ve chosen to buy.
The driving section of the M experience starts with a push of a brake pedal and the press of a button. You hear the roar of the twin-turbocharged 3.0 litre straight six engine that pushes all them ponies. Everything about the M4’s mechanical being is made for incredible performance and handling but BMW has also given the M4 the ability to be a daily car. So essentially you have the best of both worlds! There are settings for your throttle response, suspension and steering weight and you can change them all from comfort to sport and to sport plus. Your usual BMW would have a button for changing the whole car’s characteristics from mode to mode but the M4 has the ability to change each individual aspect from mode to mode. And this is where the “M” buttons come in. On your steering wheel are buttons labelled “M1” and “M2”. You can customize these buttons in iDrive and set each driving aspect to your prefered mode so you can have your desired set-up at the quick push of a button!
