The volkswagon Golf GTI is the gold standard in the sport compact segment, combining practicality and excellent driving dynamics in one package. Under the bonnet is the same 2.0-liter turbo-four with 220 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque paired to the magnificent seven-speed DSG gearbox. The GTI glides along so serenely that you’d never guess it features lower, stiffer suspension, while Sport mode tightens things up nicely. However the Golf is still one of the better-riding hot hatchbacks out there. The Golf GTI also gets variable-ratio steering, which senses the amount of lock that is being applied to the wheel and adjusts the steering accordingly. It takes some getting used to but makes the car feel very agile, stable and responsive , giving the driver a lot of confidence to push on when cornering at high speeds.

The exterior is just a delight to look at, the first thing that will really grab your attention are the magnificent eye-catching  18″ GTI diamond cut wheels which really are something else. Going onto the rear of the golf and you will notice the lovely rear spoiler and the dual exhaust system with chrome tips that also gives a lovely subtle sound and a nice little pop now and again when out on the roads , select the car into sport mode and the car really does come to life. The 3D rear tail lights and indicators are just magnificent which have laser styled movement when indicating which will really turn heads.

The Golf GTI’s interior has a really nice touch to it starting with the famous fully heated tartan seats which really are outstandingly comfortable and keep you nice and firmly in place at all times. The flat-bottomed, three-spoked GTI steering wheel has red stitching, there are aluminium pedals , coloured sat nav, Digital cockpit, DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity and adaptive cruise control. The standard eight-inch touchscreen in the Golf GTI is great, with a bright, vibrant and sharp display that responds very quickly. There’s lots of kit, too, with Apple Car Play and Android Auto included as standard as part of VW’s Car-Net system, which also offers three years’ online information for traffic data, fuel prices. Now this really is a very handy feature the GTI provides a Voice to text function which allows you to send texts via voice commands simply by telling your Google Assistant to send a text to a specific person in your contact list and saying your message out loud.
